Limits

githosted is in public beta. Limits are intentionally generous during this period and will tighten or relax based on real usage.

During public beta

  • Free tier for everyone. No formal storage or repo caps.
  • One writer per branch at a time — concurrent writes to the same branch return 429 and a Retry-After. Use different branches for parallel work.
  • Rate limits at the workspace level. Hourly burst + monthly budget. Normal workloads stay well within them; you’ll hear from us if you’re approaching the ceiling.
  • File size: Git works best with text files under a few MB. Avoid large binaries.

Specific numbers will land in this page once we have enough usage to set them confidently. Until then, don’t worry about it — if something hits a limit you’ll see a clear error and we’ll be in touch.
